Where is the BIST 100 in dollars since 2017?

In the years the lira chart printed record after record, the dollar BIST 100 was roughly where it finished 2017. That single comparison is what the rest of this site is for.

Two levels, side by side

At the end of 2017 the BIST 100 closed at $305.37 in dollars. At the 27 Oct 2026 close it stood at $224.00. The change is -26.6%. Over the same stretch the lira index rose much further; the gap is the exchange rate, not a jump in the companies' dollar value.

Years the lira rose and the dollar fell

Calendar-year closes make the split obvious. In 2021, 2023 and 2025 the index rose in lira and fell in dollars. Those years read as a bull market on a lira chart; the dollar chart says purchasing power was lost.

How this is calculated

Each day's lira close is divided by that day's USDTRY rate. The 2017 level is converted at 2017 rates, not at today's. Dollar-based and in dollar terms are the same calculation. The result is close to the picture a foreign investor sees.

Today's number

At the 27 Oct 2026 close the BIST 100 stood at $224.00 in dollars and 11,151 points in lira. The dollar peak was $338.59 on 22 Jul 2024; the index is 33.8% below that high. Read it next to the end-2017 close of $305.37.

Is dollar-based the same as in dollar terms?

Yes. Both are the lira close divided by the same day's rate. Dollar-based is the everyday phrasing.

Is this investment advice?

No. The figures are delayed end-of-day closes and describe the past. They do not say buy or sell.
